Can an Immigration Psychological Evaluation Be Done Online?

October 24, 2026 5 min read

More of my videos are collected in my video library.

Can an immigration psychological evaluation be done online? Yes. I evaluate families by secure video from anywhere in Florida, and for many cases the whole process, from the first call to the delivered report, happens without anyone driving to my office. It is the same professional, the same interview and the same report. Here is how it works, what you need, and the honest limits.

Same evaluation, different room

You receive a secure video link and join from a private space. The session runs exactly like an office visit: consent and a plain explanation of what the assessment is and who will receive the report, then your history, what brought you to this case, how you are functioning day to day, and the symptoms the referral question asks about. It generally takes two to three hours and may be split across sessions. The interview and the report take the same time in both formats. What video removes is travel, which often makes an earlier date possible.

What you need

A phone, tablet or computer with a camera. A stable internet connection. And a private room where you can speak freely for the length of the session. That last one matters most. If the person your case concerns could overhear, or if there is no private space at home, tell me before we schedule and we discuss other arrangements.

Privacy and security

Sessions run on secure, HIPAA-compliant video. Identity is verified at the start of the first session, and no one else may be present in the room unless we have agreed to it in advance for clinical reasons. If your internet fails mid-session, the session pauses and resumes, or reschedules at no fault to you. Technology problems never count against you or your case.

Records are exchanged through the channels arranged at intake, coordinated with you and your attorney. Nothing sensitive is ever requested through the public website form.

Florida only

I provide evaluations only while you are in Florida, in person in Boca Raton or by telehealth. Miami, Orlando, Tampa, Jacksonville, Pensacola, or a small town in between: the video link reaches all of them. If you are outside Florida, tell me before scheduling so we can discuss an appropriate referral.

Who tends to choose video

Families who live hours from Boca Raton and would otherwise lose a day of work to the drive. Parents who cannot leave young children or an ill relative for an afternoon. People who need a quiet, private hour that is easier to find at home than in a waiting room. Hardship cases where a spouse in one city and a parent in another both need to be interviewed. And anyone whose attorney is working against a filing date, because removing travel often opens an earlier slot.

Before the first session, the intake forms and the informed consent have to be returned, by video or in person alike. The first session cannot start without them, so sending them back promptly is the one thing that keeps a video evaluation moving at full speed.

Is a video evaluation taken as seriously?

The evaluation is conducted to the same clinical standard in both formats, and the report documents the format used. If your attorney has a preference for your specific case, that preference guides the choice. Your location and appointment format are confirmed at intake.

The office is still here

Some families prefer to sit in a room. My office is at 9825 Marina Boulevard, Suite 500, Boca Raton, FL 33428, Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM. You choose whichever format your case and your comfort call for.

In your language

Video changes nothing about language. I conduct the interview directly in English, Español or Português, with no interpreter on the call.

Common questions

Are telehealth evaluations available across Florida?

Yes. Secure telehealth reaches families anywhere in Florida, from Miami to Pensacola, with the same professional and the same report as an office visit.

Can I be evaluated if I live outside Florida?

No. I provide evaluations only while you are in Florida. If you are outside Florida, tell me before scheduling so we can discuss an appropriate referral.

Does a video evaluation take longer?

No. The interview and the report take the same time in both formats. Video removes travel, which often makes an earlier date possible.

What if my attorney wants the interview in person?

Tell me on the first call. The format is confirmed at intake, subject to any case-specific requirements, and the Boca Raton office is available.

Your next step

Send the request form and tell me where you are in Florida and whether you prefer video or the office. I call you back with dates that fit.

Want to talk it through with me?

I work in English, Português and Español, in Boca Raton and by telehealth. My first call costs nothing.
