Who can request an immigration psychological evaluation?
Anyone whose case may benefit from clinical documentation: the person applying, a qualifying family member, or an attorney referring a client. Many requests come directly from families; attorney involvement is welcome but not required to start the conversation.
Which immigration matters commonly involve an evaluation?
Extreme hardship waivers (I-601 / I-601A), VAWA self-petitions, asylum, U visa and T visa cases, and cancellation of removal are the most common. If your case type is not listed, ask; the intake call will confirm whether an evaluation is the right instrument.
Is the evaluation available in my language?
Evaluations are conducted directly in English, Português, or Español by Najla Sallum, LCSW, with no interpreter needed for those three languages.
Can I do the evaluation from home?
Yes. Secure video evaluations are available, subject to case-specific requirements, alongside in-person appointments at the Boca Raton office.
What records are reviewed?
Whatever exists and is relevant: attorney referral notes, prior filings or declarations, medical or mental health records, and police or protective-order records. Missing documents never block a first conversation.
How fast can this happen?
Interviews can usually be scheduled within one to two weeks of the first call, and written reports typically follow within seven to fourteen days of the final interview. If you are working against a deadline, say so in the request form so scheduling can account for it.
